flowerpot woman

December 7, 2013

i am a flowerpot woman.

i am grown from a seed,

a tiny speck of life

with the promise of, one day,

becoming something beautiful

and without purpose.

you give me life,

fill my veins,

until i am left to adorn your shelf

so that i may bring beauty to your life

with nothing left to keep

for my own.

i am a flowerpot woman

and i will, one day,

wither

and die

as the house plant you've made me to be.

but when winter thaws

and it is spring once more,

i will grow.

my roots will overtake you

until you scream

like i could never.
