Time at the Expense of Knowledge

October 10, 2013

Incessant shuffling of pages,

Cramming fact after fact,

Equation after equation,

Endless in sight,

Yet finite in time.

I raise my hand,

"I don't understand."

Merely brush off my plea

For apperception

"Crucial" to education;

A simple "read the textbook",

Yet no true answer.

I sit motionless,

With thoughts and inquiry

Overcrowding my mind.

Shallow is any explanation,

Insufficient in substance,

With examinations thorough

In questioning the unknowledgeable.

Failure at the hands of time,

Ticking away.

The clock ingurgitating my chances

Of passing the test,

Of grasping the materials.

We lack true

Competence in school,

For the time crunch

Alleviates the desire to absorb,

Conforming to the syllabus,

To suffice the requirements.

Why? How? What?

Nothing answered.

No time for questions.

Silence of the mind.
