Mask

June 7, 2014

What is behind the mask?

To answer this question is no easy task

take away my fancy clothes and pristine makeup

and I am nothing

Without these I have no attention in which I can bask

You don't want the real me, the vulnerable me, the exposed me

So why do you even ask?

What you see is not what lies underneath

The mask is my armor, my protection

A dark, lonely, soul is what lies beneath
