Sleeper

December 17, 2013

Slowly, slowly her thoughts glide

Over the hills, by the mountainside.

She steps forward though halting,

Second-guessing her every move.

Only the sounds exalting

Louder with each remove.

Sounds of laughter echo in the wind

Sounds of freedom swirling round the bend

The sound of light

The sound of truth

The sound of hope

That she once knew.

Asleep, asleep her thoughts glide

Over the pillow, by the fireside.

She stirs for a moment,

One thinks she might wake,

And hope for her atonement

For her blessed own sake.

Wake up sleeper

Wake up and remember

Remember your Maker

Remember the ember

As it cooled in your soul,

Once ignited in warm glow.

Sleeper you dream

Of far off, twisted things.

Perspective so warped, you

Look at a road that is forked.

You should remember two roads

That were diverged in a wood

As you carry your loads

Not remembering, though you could…
