Locks

August 26, 2019

She was Rapunzel, but her hair was her tower.

Thick, heavy tresses that weighed her down, dark tendrils tied her to Earth

She hated the chains, but she didn't have the key.

He did.

He used her own body against her. He cut the chains, braid at a time, but not to free her.

To keep her chains forever.

But now he is gone, cut out of her life with the scissors once wielded against her.

And when she was finished, she turned the blades to herself one final time

She freed herself, the one-Rapunzel now her own saving grace. The weight now lifted, she soared into the sky and there she lives, with her head in the clouds.
