time

September 3, 2013

there comes a time when we bid farewell to the exasperated potential

and instead

utter hello to the life that is waiting.

there comes a time when we learn to put away childish things

to seize the day in a new light

time takes the pain

we run with time

there comes a time when we finally and indefinitely grasp

that the clock that ticks the slowest

is the greatest gift we'll ever have

days pass and people change

and the things we love fall from our hands like sand through a sifter

but we try to hold on

we try to hold on

living in the past like it's our present

living in the past like it's our future

we see tonight the sun sets as it has yesteryear, sets for a new dawn.

ends to begin

again

we end to begin again.

we raise our hands to the sky in our praises, we fall to stand taller and we lag to run faster

our arms spread wide as we attempt to hold the distances

attempt to hold the years that pass

attempt to grasp time

until we learn

it is not the potential- heaving its last, exasperated breath--

rather the life that results, the bloom from the rain of the sky of time

propelling us onward

but holding us

we hold

we hold

until we learn

we must let go
