Older Siblings

January 16, 2017

Your brother is at college,

and yours, the army.

My sister is gone too,

but in permanency.

Your brothers graduated,

from the same school you plan to.

My sister was much farther ahead in time,

but much farther in distance too.

Although I am tempted to be jealous,

I know we all face different paths.

And what has happened and been finished,

it is all in the past.

At times my heart aches,

with pain and with sadness.

Yet those who’ve suffered the most

can have the greatest joyfulness.
