In Memory of Maitu

February 8, 2018
Though no one knows,      I am here to tell.
Of the loss of the loved one,      I never knew.
Trying to keep the secret,      of the wonderful life to come.
As people brought it up,      I held my tongue.
Then one day,      a very ordinary day,
I get word of the passing      of this special someone.
Now I will never      know them and they me,
Until the day      that I too shall go.
He will always      be my sole quintessence,
And in my family's      intertwined hearts.
O I will dream,      dream all the days long
Of what could have been;     the laughter and smiles,
The joys of being together and watching,      the struggles and accomplishments,
The pains and sufferings along with      the memories and experiences
Made and cherished forever,      but the bad news still haunts me
Always in the back of my mind.      As I see new life;
Sunrises that bring light,      flowers when winter turns spring,
When the cute baby smiles and laughs,      my heart breaks for what
Has escaped my grasp.     I know it is what was supposed to happen,
So I can grow stronger.     Although he is not here,
He is the meaning and inspiration      in my life.
He will live on in the memory      of those who knew of him.
