The Fear Inside Me

March 14, 2019

You feel your heart beating, a thousand times faster.

Your hands, a low fire beginning to blaze,

Capture your fear as it continually grows.

Sweat collecting on your forehead

Tiny beads of torment

Collecting in a jar that you tried to keep

Closed.

You question, endlessly, why your body does it

You're trapped

Trying to find the answer.

Then the sun comes up

And you’re okay--until the rain.

You’re drowning all over again.

You panic, wondering when the fire will explode

or will you

Become the calm before the storm

You're pathetic.

It terrifies you

It won

But the game isn’t over--

You feel it every day.
