The Darkest Night

August 15, 2013

Children are sent to school to learn

Develop and grow into young adults.

In buildings, classrooms their minds are churned,

Their minds are opened like empty vaults.

My mind, tightly locked and sealed, early developed and dark

Yearned for, needed, a method to release

The demons and thoughts of hell that leave their mark

Indelibly in my mind, a mind never in one peace.

What could save such a lost soul?

One who saw no reason to be saved,

A mind so tattered, unholy, dark, cold,

Thought to be too dark to ever be changed.

The darkness always gives way to new light,

Poetry saved me from my longest, darkest night.
