Reflection

April 12, 2013
Nervously gnaws on her fingernail She’s grown so frigid, she feels so frail Her hair in knots, she hasn’t combed The grass out front is overgrown Her face is gaunt, she doesn’t eat She lost the will to move her feet The neighbors know to walk on by They say she has an evil eye Who knows the pain inside her breast? Though so old, she can’t find rest Before a glass, she’s petrified There’s nowhere left for her to hide She stares unblinking, the face of fear At the ghastly figure drawing near Into its eyes, their burning gleam She can’t remember how to scream Terrified of her own reflection She’s trapped within her introspection Forever, locked inside her head Dearly wishing to be dead
