The Art of War

November 3, 2012
Festering flesh and limbs blown apart Permanent crying, and that’s just the start How could Sun Tzu think this is art? The simple solution is always a war It epitomizes the broken human core And leaves both sides with an incurable sore Casualties used to stop at just men But war-torn countries have become death’s den Just wait for the bomb, wondering when… Losing yourself to bloodlust is the way Shoot on sight for the whole entire day A salary and medal is your only pay What did you do when the innocents ran? Did you let them go or shoot like a man? For war, law lifts its killing ban And what have you left? Land destroyed, houses bereft PTSD leaves you alone, deft Your service is over, their freedom is won The short time of peace feels warm as the Sun, But you know in your heart that war’s never done.
