Hemingway

September 21, 2018

I laughed when my hero told me that there is no friend as loyal as a book

But after being brought up just to be torn down so many times

I started to bleed at my typewriter

I decided to become another apprentice

I left behind golden footprints

That the people of my past will kill to follow

She used to be my best friend they'll say

But they won't even remember my name

All that will be on their lips are the words to my stories

The words they didn't have the spine to carry

Now I know how right my hero was in saying that there is no friend as loyal as a book
