The Enemy

June 18, 2014

He comes after me late at night

Sneaking through the darkness

No one can see him but I

As I lay awake, terrified

When will this all end?

Dark thoughts consume me

As his hand reaches out

Ready to take me, here and now

This storm goes on forever

The end is nowhere near

As he crawls toward me

Sending chills down my neck

Screaming does no good

No one hears, no one cares

He grasps for my arm

But I feel it in my heart

Slowly I feel myself drowning

Falling through the dark

This man now controls me

Pulling me farther away

He and I are one

For he is not an actual man

An emotion my body knows well

Never far, never out of reach
