Breaking Chains

November 7, 2017

Excuses you make

No justifying or it will break

I love you has power

Don't take that way

Know if you mean it

Or this might be it

Your love should be free

Now words mean nothing to me

True love should underlie all

But all I see is a wall

A towering wall that separates us

Its built with the bricks of your lust

And mistrust

Mortar of lies slapped in between

I’m leaving you to your stone prison

In hopes to find a new vision

Shapes change around me

Time is passing

I catch someone's eye

But I’m not willing to try

Pain still has me enslaved

He waved

I could not shake him off

Love flowed through his veins

I’m letting go of the reins

But I need help breaking these chains

“When you’re ready, I’m here for you”

I’m ready, I want to start new

He promises

It’s because I love you that:

I will never leave your side

Nor forget to be a guide

Whatever you need

I am here

Whether to run or walk

I’ll be watching over you like a hawk

I want you to know real love

The kind that you are made of

Through trials and strife

Will you join me on this journey of life
