Outlooks

March 15, 2019

I don’t wanna grow old.

This young age I have, I cling

I hold.

Elementary days,

Filled with play.

Ice cream sundaes

And Frito Lays.

Pizza parties,

Friday nights watching Jeff Hardy.

I don’t wanna grow old.

This young age I have, I cling

I hold.

Now in middle school,

Bought a membership to the community pool.

Senior citizens all around,

All they have is wrinkles and all they do is frown.

Adults are always busy with work all the time,

Brother just graduated college and I’m not too far behind.

I don’t wanna grow old.

This young age I have, I cling

I hold.

High school is here now,

Teachers and family members have me raising my brow.

Starting to see all the upsides of growing older,

My outlook has changed as if I’m a new beholder.

Freedom to do whatever I want, dreams of having my own kids.

Thinking to myself,  is it too early to start saving up for diapers and bibs?

I can’t wait to grow old.

It’s like my fear has gone away,

Like a common cold.
