Unidentifiable

June 28, 2016

Too young to speak upon herself.

She was given her demeanor.

Forced to speak, think, act, and believe in her being,

Taught to be an imposter of herself.

Yet, all along she had words of her own

Sadly, they were dismissed;

With her words came reality

With her words came questioning.

She grew to become robotic;

Yet to understand, her surroundings were toxic.

With maturity came great disconnect,

Looking for a familiar figure;

Never finding a trait she might collect.

Learning to look upon herself in disdain

The disconnect within, brought the most pain.

In a world fixed upon identity and kin;

She found herself empty-

With no one to look in.

Unable even to identify herself, as if to be planted,

Her opportunity to personify was never granted.

With love came deep discretion

Unsure of her own impression,

She breathed solidarity

But yearned for expression.
