Opposition

Melody Mott

A luminescent ball of light descends.

The long hours have caused their spirits to wane.

Days end and nothing remains but our sins.

Lovely inn for the travelers do sustain.

Guiding them to their final destinations.

Trial of labor you shall find the sum.

Slow and tired, full of trepidation.

Inn keeper asks, “What are you hiding from?”

Questions of restlessness that hinders all.

You, like many others take the journey,

Unaware of who next might face the fall.

Reach the end of this brittle road and see

which souls destine for a tomb of darkness.

But we all face the journey regardless.
