If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

3 poems·Since July 2013

I live in the now, and actively pursue the feelings that are developed by every day motions. I enjoy literature, for it is an escape from the single world I am given into thousands of undiscovered realms. The power of the written word is what draws me to write. I am an Education major soon to transfer to Sacramento State University, and I can't wait to not only enlighten little minds, but to be humbled by their freedom. ♡

Jury Duty

July 14, 2013

How dare I excuse myself

misuse myself

in the midst of my civic duty?

Yes, he fits the stereotype.

I see the man is bobbing his head

to the answers of the selection

for which he favors.

No, I do not wish to be here

in this hard wooden bench.

Excuses flood my mind;

Be opinionated.

Finally when I am in

the seat

the questions arise and I realize.

I have been here. I have been here.

This man, I know.

An accident for which my mother

endures pain every day.

Committed by this man.

No, sir, I am not fit.

As I cry in the question seat.
