Cage

July 15, 2013

He taught her how to fly and soar

only to break her wing.

And he could've saved her when she fell

but decided to do nothing.

Instead he locked her in a cage,

refused to tend her wing.

So she refused to ever fly again

and refused to ever sing.

So she was forced to watch him snap

and break himself to pieces.

She'd give anything to tend to him,

but he was her strongest weakness.

She sat there hurting in her cage,

the pain so deep, it stung.

She rocked herself and closed her eyes.

Quietly to herself, she sung.
