Song of Self

October 1, 2013

Although I wish them to resemble the cloud-less California sky

These black holes are surrounded by the colour of the earth’s flesh

Thanks to the 21st , my flaws are corrected

My crooked vision and blurry teeth will plague me no more

Inanimate vines shelter my investments

I maintain it year-round to sustain the contemplations inside

I am cursed with the excess worry that thrives within my mind

It has the potential to invade,

But my careless conscious is quick to evade

My outlook on life changes as much as my musical taste

Here and there, never truly settling down

I leave that for the bittersweet days of minivan ownership and picket fences

These days are for fabricating a kingdom of youthful sand

One that will be swept away by the wise tides of tomorrow

I scramble throughout the week and set fire to the week’s end

I ignite my inner fool through flammable boredom

He conjures amusing memories that evolve as a puzzle so clever

I piece the peculiar edges together and hang them on my hall of legendary endeavors

Who could keep up with my sporadic soul?

We breathe the same air, swim the same ocean, and are bathed by the same sunshine

We share so much, yet not enough

Time will learn to share the rest

Like a star, she is far-off

 floating in the nocturnal sea

I have memories to collect before I pay attention to astronomy
