Secrets

February 19, 2015

A poem’s verse rings with how love should be

Unconditional in its purest form

And within the fabric that is family

It is expressions of pretense put on paper

Markings in lines carved straight and true

Quickly slashed with little pain

A futile attempt to mask the torment

Faded scars made to forget will always remember

Smiles disguise the anguish buried inside

Silence keeps the interested at bay

The darkness of night holds your secrets

Daybreak reveals truth

Moving through crowds without notice

They don’t hear the voices that confuse judgment

Hiding in plain site and lost in the shuffle

Would they even understand

Trying to find the perfect balance

Desperately waiting for the right path

Blind to the clues in the rear view

You allow routine to be your guide
