Nutmeg

September 6, 2019

My mother loves her arts and crafts

Hearth and home and still she laughs -

Try as I may to do all I can

She's always there to lend a hand

My mother likes her cooking, too

Nutmeg's in season, she adds to the stew

I made a corndoll and cleaned the attic

Call it devotional love

Though the image dramatic

Mother mine, blessed be

It's a hymn for her

The poet Brigid
