Under Lights

October 25, 2015

I am a storyteller,

A teller of tales not my own,

Of those who were not recognized,

Of those who went above

And beyond,

Of those who failed,

Of those who at least

Tried,

Of those who ended their chapter with a single tear of

Joy.

I tell these to find understanding

In others,

In myself,

To hope to understand a world that lacks a memory of

Magic.

I try to bring magic to bright eyes,

Try to bring tears to the dry,

Try to stop hearts at the realization that

We

Are not

Alone.

I have never been alone.

These stories comprise my being,

And I am drenched in the sweat of

Working,

Because a storyteller is

Work.

I cannot tell you what to believe

To believe that I am meant to be a

Storyteller.

I am meant to stand under lights,

Stand raw and honest,

Stand ready to brace

Human

Emotion.

I do not think you can be taught to tell stories,

But I do think you can learn to

Listen.
