The Ending

July 31, 2018

The stars tonight seem familiar

Like old friends returning for a much overdue visit

They seem so reassuring while the lyrics of an old song remind me

Today is “the end of the world as I know it.”

The smell of the breeze reminds me of the old town

With people who only come out at night because of the day time heat.

Cars driving by and people talking, it's all so nostalgic.

I hold onto the world I’ve known so long

Trying to forget that today truly is an ending

The conclusion of a story I had honestly loved

Too much.
