Sometimes

July 3, 2016

Sometimes, it feels wrong to love you
It feels hard sometimes to care
No matter what it is I do
You seem to forget that I'm there

I say hi, I smile, I laugh at your jokes
And even though I don't understand why
I'm there for you when you cry
But you've forgotten me, left me
Tossed me to the side like the old rag
I feel like I am

I'm slowly moving on but
I still can't get past you
Yet he still sees me
He treats me well and won't let
Me go back to that place where you left me
Dangling in the wind
He makes me better and makes me
Want to move on

But I can't let you go
I want to though
You still hold my heart
Though it’s in pieces
Torn and shattered

I hate this feeling
Of being thrown away
And even after all of the pain
I still love you more than anything
But sometimes, it feels wrong to love you

I’ve told you that I love you
I've told you how I felt but
You just nodded and smiled and went on
Like all I said was hello

I don't know why I still cling to you
Even when you treat me like
The one you can't bear to look at
You act as if I was never there for you
As if I never existed and I understand
But I won't accept it

You never told me you loved me
And if you don't, I understand
I'll just move on to him
He's waiting for me
To leave you behind like you left me
Cold and alone in the middle of the road

I won't lie and say I'm ok
I won't smile when I want to cry
But I will tell you that I love you
One more time before I walk away
Never to see you again
But always to remember our final day

Sometimes, I wish I could let you go
But through my stubborn will, I refuse
I will continue to live my life
Still loving you more than you
Ever loved me, but I won’t go
back to you, I will just press on because
Sometimes, I know it's wrong to love you
