Not Normal

October 31, 2012
I'm too warm in this small, stuffy room So I open the window And allow the night to leak in and after a few seconds, I am too cold. Too warm, then too cold... why does it always have to be so extreme? A train roars just a couple of mil es away And the tracks rattle. Somewhere, a blade of grass bends under the persistant wind. Low voices mumbling monotonously upstairs the television endlessly streaming incoherent noise into my mind Cars start outside People going places I don't know where, because I don't know them. My cell phone buzzes (technology always follows me) and I follow right along. I follow all the basic rules of being a basic teenager Pretend not to have these un-normal thoughts I'm pretty sure other kids my age don't sit in bed listening to silence and breathing in the spring breeze. It is night, a time when I don't have to take heed all the "shoulds" and "should nots". I can just listen to nothing at all and rejoice when I hear something. Somewhere, a leaf falls.
