You Only Write Once

December 7, 2013

J

By Stefanie Froelich

For once I see that eyes will meet,

You once will be forever mine.

This walk through night is not deceit,

And immortal life is thine.

As words don’t speak or cry or come,

There is no better way,

Than to obliterate the repeating “um”

And hear not what I say.

Instead understand thy thought and not thy expression,

For the objective will not unveil,

It’s just another session,

That defines this intrigued girl’s tale.

But hearing what my heart has written,

And not the sound of my mind,

Will be the best gift given,

At least that I can provide.

The tic and toc deems time irrelevant,

That night I could never undo,

Nothing feels so fond and reverent,

That night I spent with you.
