Black Faces
They paint on these black faces, and then go stare into black faces and smile all pretty and rosey cheeked you'd think that they have learned by now that its not reverse racism as if you've never seen your grandmothers birth certificate say colored, or that once i go to training school there are places in Mississippi I still cant go because they will lynch off 100 years of plight that is passed down by my ancestors, I sit and think about the things I will tell my children when they realize that the color brown isn't excepted in most parts of the united states, I will have to tell my son that the world will cast you out because of the colors of your skin, I will tell him that you will never be able to just be, That they will be looking to see if they can catch you, They will cage you or they will kill you, I will worry for my children, I will cradle them while I can, I can't tell them not to wear hoodies, I can't tell them not to play their music too loudly, I cant tell them not to go to school because they will Emmett Till you and roll you up in a gym mat, I cant tell them not to live, but if this world is out to get them I can tell them that they are the moon and the evening stars that they can thrive in a world with black face, and reverse racist who try and justify their bigotry, That their skin is onyx on the most peaceful of midnight's and that yes, they will come for you, but you will thrive, and I will sacrifice every bit of my being to make that a reality
