The World From Below
I am weak.
In such a big world with strong people,
I am nothing.
I have no energy
To change what happens around me
So many things
Too many of them
Stopping me
Changing me
Into someone I have no intention of becoming
I am so small
In a world of so many imperfections
So many things that are bigger
Out of reach
With so many things I want to protect,
I can’t even protect myself.
With so many changes in this big world,
It’s hard to keep up on my shortened feet.
I am not fit for this world
Except for the one in my own household
The comfort inside my own head.
One that can’t be invaded
By the thoughts of others
And what everyone says is
Right.
I am vulnerable in a world of lies.
Ones that the world implements in your head
Forcing them into your ears
Shoving them down your throat
Just so we can cough it up
For the sake of future generations
We are all weak
We all want what is best
But we act like we’re not in ruins
We act like there’s nothing wrong
Because so many good things come out of the things we do
But it’s not good enough
It never is.
Yet we maintain a neutral view
Because no feelings should be hurt.
No one should be told
The truth.
What is the point of establishing a relationship
If we are bound to break it
And start
Try
To begin a new one
With someone else?
What is the point of exchanging vows of dedication for something
That will only bring pain?
That will not serve
That will not protect
That will not keep promises.
What is the point of a relationship
If there is no trust?
What is
For the people?
When what we do is for ourselves
Our own greed
For our families
Yet
Not for anyone else?
What is one side to dictate all others?
What is one view to define everyone’s make or break?
A relationship relies on loyalty
On trust
It relies on cooperation
Not just a pursuit for lust
So
Yes.
I am weak.
Yes.
I am lazy.
Yes.
I am small.
Yes. I am vulnerable.
But I am passionate
And America
Will never be great
Without everyone else’s support.
