Catharsis

August 13, 2013

I write because it's better to

splatter the ink from a quill,

Than the blood in my wrist;

The cathartic process of pen to paper.

When the world becomes overbearing,

Release the toxins on the paper.

Stories that are worth sharing,

But too timid to utter.

Because my persistent mind,

Replays the film of past memories.

And the projector won't stop until I let go,

Mold the blank page into a part of me.

Each letter becomes a cell,

Altogether creating a snapshot,

Of a place between heaven and hell,

Expressing an emotion locked within.

Because words are the most inexhaustible source of magic.

When life becomes a series of unfortunate events,

The comforting words of friendship and love

Can turn a tragedy into a comedy.

My words could give company,

To the broken and lonely.

We could start a isolated colony;

The ones who never belonged.

I write because I may not be famous,

I may not be rich,

But if I have a pen in my hand

I can change my corner of the world.

No one will remember me when I'm dead,

But maybe they'll remember something I said.
