Realization Panic

My breath caught in my lungs I furrowed my brow I bit my tongue And I thought, "How?" I was scheduled to work Almost 40 hours Wanna stab my eyes with a fork My mouth tasted sour How is this allowed? I am a minor- My mind was in a shroud I was a liar I am actually a legal adult With TWO bills This brought me to a halt Do I need to write a will? Work was now a necessity And no longer for fun This truth nagged incessantly What has time done? I looked away from my schedule Went to work the front counter Is this new responsibility federal? A man came up, a flirter And it hit me Not only was I a grown up I looked like one too, and he could see He smiled and said, "Sup?" He was older than my father Said he'd wrap me up like a bow And before he went farther I violently shook my head no
