First Snowfall

June 25, 2013

Peering out of the frost-covered window pane
delicate snowflakes viciously whipped around.
On a thin plate of glass
I placed my feet.
Every little branch, every little pebble
is blanketed in snow.
A icy wonderland.
The frozen ground lies beneath me,
my cheeks feeling the sting of each intricately laced flake.
Nothing but silence is spoken,
deafening, yet comforting.
Remaining grass from the Summer months
whose only companion is now a lone deer.
The dead leaves surrendered,
the pressure of hooves proving too much.
