Abandon

Location

The rain drops fall, caressing her face

The tight curls of her hair unwinding

Her eyes look down, words lost in space

Her hands cross slowly, searching, finding

A small bit of solace in each other

Her chipped nails and fingers interwining

Left alone, in a world without another

Her wrinkled dress presses tight to her skin

And the neon lights of red twinkle above her

Her shoulders shake once, and she lifts her chin

Red roads of sorrow streaking down her cheeks

The tears and the rain say her heart is done in.
