There is an art to being alone

If you aren’t careful, you can lose your mind.

Get too immersed, you may lose your body too.

I am content, I wait for something special.

I do not worry about now, the future is my care.

Nothing will be better than when I get there.

 

It takes more than simply living to get there,

But it does not require living alone.

It’s not easy though, especially if you care.

I keep a firm grip, I keep a strong mind.

We have strict rules, that’s why we are special.

What do we do? What we have to.

 

We follow our orders, but give them too.

Obedience is crucial to get there,

We have to prove we are something special.

Blind obedience is why it is best to be alone,

That way anything asked of you can’t ruin your mind.

Those who are seen as weak, are those who care.

 

I messed up once, I let myself care.

I fell in love in a city. I got orders to

Give my love to my leader, to strengthen my mind.

I hesitated, but only for a moment. It was there

I learned it is best, for those in my trade, to be alone.

Lovers try to stop you from proving you are special.

 

Our leader has proven that he is special

He only gives us orders out of his true care.

I do not really know the others, I stay alone.

True names are not shared, I know two.

They all use covers, mostly because they’re

Afraid a true name will reveal too much of their mind.

 

I am not afraid of revealing my mind.

That is where I am truly special.

I can visualize a place and put myself there.

I can let go of my love so that I do not care.

I’m not the only one, in fact I’m one of two,

We both prefer to work alone.

Until my initiation day I continue to live alone.

I endlessly train my mind, my body too.

I prove I’m special, I’ve ceased to care.

 

Someday soon, I’ll meet my love there.
