I've seen in relationships shared between people

Parents and children

Married and engaged couples

Roommates and best friends

Colleagues and peers

The one common factor

That tears at the seams of their bond is

Communication

Humankind, at its core

Strive for attention, love

But most of all we strive to be understood

To have our aspirations appreciated

To have our accomplishments acknowledged

And to have our ailments approached

With kindness and compassion

For me, it's through the concept

Of synpases and neurons

Through the ideas

Of Festinger and Zimbardo

Through the combined efforts

Of sociologists and psychologists

That will bring me to the answers I crave

And perhaps with that

I can take at least one step forward

To establish why and how we

Communicate

And bring a way for us

To be understood
