A Chapter Ends, A Chapter Begins

My high school career shall soon

Face a never-ending red light.

Many things have happened

Forgotten memories, cherished stories

My life book will have a new

Completed chapter.

New friendships were formed.

Some, old and new, faded away

Like when light ran away to make way for night;

Except that the light always came back.

Hanging out with friends is

What I’ll miss the most.

Friends are great treasures

Of the world.

The same destination does not

Lie with us all.

My heart cries for more time,

But it agrees with my mind

That a new chapter must begin.

Such bittersweet love.

My soul prepares for life after graduation.

There’s much happiness

And excitement and curiosity and joy.

New home, new faces,

New challenges, new rewards

Exploring a new world

College, chapter x,

Is a mystery

Unexplored territory

A kind murderer

Its coming creates a wall between two lives.

I will not wrestle with time.

I will gladly walk with it.

I will also walk with my peers

Into a stadium overflowing with people.

Friends and family alike.

A chill will hang in the evening air

And bright lights will consume us

With waves of claps and cheers

Running to our ears.

There’s a victory when

Each diploma enters a pair of hands.

The sweet relief, the flood of emotions.

Yes! We’ve won the battles!

But the war of life has

Only just begun.
