Chickadee

Father Bird was missing you that day

Another offspring lost at sea

He sang to you like we always pray

Fly back to me, sweet chickadee

You faced the sunrays valiantly

And allowed the warmth your spirit

You chirped of life wholeheartedly

For the whole world to hear it

Your wings took you to a larger nest

Where canaries sing sweet symphonies

Were you troubled or at rest

When you met the other chickadees?

Baby Bird always dons an upturned gaze

Hoping to hear you chirp once more

Serenading from the cerulean haze

You are her heart, her voice, her core

Your shy notes spoke volumes to Baby

Encouraging her to take to the wind

Like brave Grampa in the Navy

She wishes you've seen where she's been

So, sweet chickadee

Our shooting star in the crystal sky

May the angels set you free

Fly, chickadee, fly, fly, fly
