Disney Princess Daydreams

She is often asked why she’s still single,

But It’s really not so simple.

She’s asked herself this,

And looked deep within,

So I guess that’s where we can begin.

Her heart has been on the mend,

Since before she knew what love was,

Before she could even comprehend.

And I don’t want to write this in third-person.

I don’t have it in me to pretend,

That the she I’m speaking of isn’t really,

Me I’m speaking of.

You know, I think fairy tales and romance movies ruined me.

I just want to be like Belle but he never watched Beauty & The Beast.

All he knows is the streets.

Then there’s naive me,

Thinking I could be his peace.

Not understanding that has to come from within.

So while we live in this life of sin,

Souls intertwine,

And each time,

I receive a new demon.

Just Another reason I can’t please him.

Just another toxic love until I get the strength to leave him

This poem is about:
Me
