I want to be something to give to people. 

I want my words I one day write, 

to make people feel something.

To be so strong, they feel like you’ve been punched in the gut. 

To be so soft, they feel like the first time you’ve ever loved. 

I want to be a mother to a motherless child. 

I want that child to know their worth like the back of their hand. 

I want to teach my child blood is not thicker than water,

how to stand on their own two feet, 

along with every other lesson I’ve ever learned. 

And if I never do these things, 

I hope I’ve given something to you. 

Because that will have been enough.
