Excerpt From a Coffee Bean

I am the old coffee pot man…

Powered by the function of old parts and mechanics
Using the traditional aspects of hard work and thermodynamics
I grind and press, knowledge obtained
Sitting in the shadow of technology unexplained
How does a cup of Joe spit out so fast
From a Keurig, Nestle, Mr. Coffee you ask
Well I’ll tell you it may just seem amazing
But in reality one cannot be fooled by their dramatic appraising
Those that always seem to succeed
May make you feel unworthy indeed
However it is the point where things go wrong
And the little things in the machines overlooked for so long
Become their downfall, a fundamental flaw

I am the old coffee pot man…

I am not no flash in the pan
Not a bullshitter of a Renaissance Man
Or nothing that can’t stand
The aspects and opinions at hand
No appliance that finds its way to the trash
The one that can endure life’s relenting thrash

I am the old coffee pot man…

With the grime in my handle and stains on my walls
Showing the colors of perseverance and all
In order to be successful you must not run, but craw
Craw through particles of coffee beans and draw
The flavors and nutrients of reality
While challenged with unsettling mentalities
Fight the gravity of society that holds
And allow yourselves to drop in the ocean of gold
Between the molecules of liquid just like you

That creates the best coffee ever brewed
