Flesh vs ...

Psalm 119:49-50 New English Translation (NET Bible)

ז (Zayin)

49 Remember your word to your servant,
for you have given me hope.
50 This is what comforts me in my trouble,
for your promise revives me.

Holiday-time a special dimension

My old flesh still survives the same

It is guided by a lack of comprehension

Of the spiritual call in God’s Name

It slugs out by itself very deep within

The battles of lust, greed, and envy

Year-round with accommodating sin

That captures at will the human specie

It surfaces more at day’s remembrance

As history appointed time of appreciation

To God and Son and his called kindred

Who through the ages protected nations

Where do we go when our eyes are closed?

And iniquity leads us by the hand

Does anyone care or want to know?

Or does our comfort dictates our stand
