Forever You

Past

Present

What’s real and what isn’t

Vibrant colors blend into shades of grey

The same starless nights blacken her face

The same empty bed and distant shadows

that blanket her world in empty silence

She’s dirty and tainted

She is unlovable

These thoughts ring in her ears behind every

“I love you”

Wishing she could believe you,

but seeing the lies every time.

Warm hands that once held her close are the ones

that shoved her onto that sidewalk.

You left her naked. Her once steel walls now stripped,

everyone can see the mess she has become.

Her shattered heart still lies on the cold concrete.

She tore her throat screaming

for you to turn around.

Burning in the fire you created

And all the love you once wrote

Lips trembling with pleas for you

Forever you
