This Girl

I'll never be "that" girl

But l can be THIS girl

Silk tresses will never swim on the small of my back

Only coiled curls will dance freely on the nape of my neck

My skin will never be a velvet sheet, airbrushed to perfection

I'm painted with a history and a million "let me tell you's"

Long legs will never run for miles from my torso

Instead I'm skated around with short, abrupt limbs

I'm only Cheyenne

Years of heritage, passed doen for me to cradle when I'm old enough to understand

Juat a simple heartbeat that brings me closer to a lifetime of change.
