A Golden Heart
The sky is gray and sad,
The once lively roses in your garden are withering away.
He is not in pain, in which I am glad,
It would be selfish to say that I need him to stay.
His grave was as cold as stone.
Without him I feel so alone.
Underground rests my best friend,
I hate to say that it’s the end.
The tears rolling down my cheeks,
Are like droplets of rain falling to the ground.
Today is the day when the sky is crying.
When they told me you passed,
I wish they had been lying.
When your golden heart stopped beating,
Is when I almost stopped breathing.
Your memory will still remain.
Without you here I feel much pain.
The wind is strong and cold.
Our dearest memories are what I hold.
It has been three weeks, but I still mourn
Because without you here: my heart is torn.
The sun starts peeking through the clouds
I hope that you are proud when you look down
Blue jays are chirping at the tree you have grown.
Your love for nature and animals is what you shown.
I will think about you forever
Because making you proud is my endeavor.
In your yard I see your John Deere
It is a sign that lets me know that you are near.
Your golden heart was strong and warm
You battled and got through every rough storm.
You fought for your country and struggled through cancer.
Questions about your health went unanswered.
You can now plant roses in heaven’s garden,
You will forever be my guardian angel.
Saying goodbye is just too painful.
I will see you again someday,
Now it’s time to rest in peace inside your grave.
I miss you, but now you’re in a better place.
You can never be replaced.
You are one of a kind and always on my mind.
For I love you, and it will get better in time.
