To everyone who has told me I focus to much on poetry:

I am sorry! I am sorry you have never experienced poetry.

I am sorry you will never know what holy poetry is, but I do!

I know what is like to be saved because of a pen.

I have felt salvation through poetry,

on days where the burden of existing was too much, I have had poetry lighten the load.

On days when my mind was a house filled with smoke, poetry has been the glowing exit signs

When I felt worthless and unworthy, poetry has shown me how holy I can be.

On the nights I spend on my knees begging any God out there to save me from myself,

There was a poetry, a pen and paper falling on my lap as if my prayers had been answered.

Poetry has saved my life more times than I can count.

It has shown me there is someone out there who truly cares, shown me that there is hope,

that life is worth living!  and I am so grateful that slam exist
