Homewreckers Hansel and Gretel

Location

United States

Hansel and Gretel had not been told

About the lack of their father’s gold

However they did notice the lack of food

Which put their stepmother in a foul mood

So they went out at once to trap and find

Something that would ease their minds

For hours and hours in the woods they tread

Hoping for something that would be dead

But their stomachs started to rumble

And the two twins began to grumble

When their eyes landed on a house

And they found a lady without a spouse

She had baked her life into these walls

Hoping for someone to make some calls

Trying and trying to ease the pain

Of having no love for her to gain

So she welcomed the twins into her home

Who for hours they did roam

But now a plan they did hatch

For the spinster’s house they would snatch

They endeavoured to carry off gumdrops

Would be taken off under the treetops

The poor lonely spinster fell asleep in her bed

Her heart should have been filled with dread

The twins started to dismantle the home

Filling their arms with treats of honeycomb

The poor old woman’s heart would be chilled

When she woke, for gone was the house she’d built

Their poor worried father had been wrecked with worry

Their stepmother had not even bothered to scurry

Never did she try to find the twins she thought spoiled

Despite her husband having all day toiled

But alas they returned home with their treasures

Having crossed at least ten acres

Their parents faces filled with delight

But now the twins had a plight

For the adrenaline rush they’d had

Ensured this would lead to many more plans
