How Shall They Be Moved?

Illiterate.

Consider it.

Unable to understand it.

And so unable to be moved by it.

Then how shall the children be moved Lord?

By the birds? By the bees?

By the twinkling of the stars or the wind in the trees?

But only if they see, not ever if they read.

Will they travel the world in eighty days?

Seeing all the sights, watching all the plays?

But will they understand what the actors say?

Are they literate enough?

Consider it.

If not then how shall the children be moved Lord?

By the word. By the phrase. By the turning of the page.

By the trying through the trial. By the perseverance in the gaze.

Literate?

Consider it.  All the opportunities now open.

Jobs, provisions, advancement.

Then let the children be moved Lord.

By the word, by the phrase, by the turning of the page.

Strive to excel in literacy,

To achieve an excellency even greater.

And watch the children move Lord.
