HUNGER INSIDE ME
Lurking, screeching, rumbling,
Every day,
The hunger inside of me,
Is a perpetual prey,
My body screams,
My mind can’t keep straight,
My brain keeps puzzling,
The rest of my foredoomed fate.
Every now and then,
I don’t know what to do,
Diseases are my mutual friends,
Anorexia or the flu.
The hunger fuels,
my sleepless nights.
Though I keep surviving,
Till the end of this fight.
There are 800 million out there,
Like me,
Are we that concealed?
Constantly, begging for food: our only plea.
But how long can I endure this?
Preserve the starvation at bay,
Each day, all I see,
The hunger growing inside of me…
