Hurricane Sandy

Thu, 03/06/2014 - 18:12 -- jcheng

Sitting in the cold with no one else as

the wind blows through the windows of my room.

My parents often ask why that it is,

but I continue to make up excuses.

The thoughts of Sandy are recollected

While many complain about the lack of heat,

I enjoy the closeness with my family

The only few days that I get to spend

with my family and wonderful dog.

Playing around, I think of my father.

How one day he may not be here, and so

taking in that one day he may be gone,

I  cherish each and every moment

Sitting in my room in the cold breeze

reminds me of what is most important.

My family, my friends, and

those who support me until the end.
